In the aftermath of the uprisings, the EU offered its Southern Mediterranean partner countries “A partnership for democracy and shared prosperity” in the context of the revised European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) that focused on democratic transformation, a partnership with people and civil society, and sustainable and inclusive growth. Despite high expectations, after more than two years the revolutions have thus far been unable to produce consolidated and stable democracies. The inauguration of a new leadership of the European Union provides an opportunity to rethink the EU relations with the Southern Neighbourhood.With this background, SOLIDAR is organising a Round Table to highlight:The ENP as a tool to promote an “enabling environment” for Civil Society Dialogue;The need to establish a comprehensive vision to promote Social Rights and Social Protection through the ENP.The Round Table will be hosted by MEP Andrej Plenkovic (EPP), the Vice- Chair of the Committee of Foreign affairs (AFET).A delegation of partners from the Middle East and North Africa region will share with us the challenges and the opportunities they see to design a new European Neighborhood Policy!
