The event brings together policy makers, donors, influential leaders, academics, government and civil society to present evidence that demonstrates how education and other social services reduce conflict and contribute to social cohesion and sustainable peace, and why education and these social services should be promoted. The Symposium on Tuesday 17 March will open at 9.30am and feature Ted-like talks - from former South Sudanese refugee, turned model and activist Mari Malek; and former Premier of Western Cape in South Africa and Member of the Club de Madrid’s NetPLUSS, Ebrahim Rasool. From 10.00am to 3.30pm experts will participate in three panel discussions on innovative peacebuilding responses through social services, impact and evidence, and ways to bridge and influence the humanitarian, stability and development agendas. Each panel will be followed by an open Q&A with the audience.
