New European Forums "A more Inclusive Democracy"

Through the presence of politicians, political scientists, and various experts, we will undercover the main issues around the political participation of New Europeans (people with a migrant background) and its consequences.

One of the clearer perspectives from which to look at the increasing diversity of the European society is by analyzing the political environment. New Europeans are increasingly at the centre of the political speech, in large part due to the worrying growth of far-right and populist parties and their constant stress on immigration. But the growing influence of New Europeans in politics is not only perceivable in negative terms: they are increasingly present in politics and are covering roles of responsibility.Through the presence of politicians, political scientists, and various experts, we will undercover the main issues around the political participation of New Europeans and its consequences: can it help integration? What is the added value that diversity can bring to politics? Is the existence of ethnic parties good or bad? What is the role of civil society in representing, and putting together, New Europeans? The forum will highlight how New Europeans could be more present in the political environment, both as actors and as objects of legislation.
