The Architecture & Engineering Research Unit in collaboration with the Social Sciences Research Division of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) will organize its 5th Annual International Conference on Urban Studies & Planning, 8-11 June 2015, Athens, Greece.The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars and students from all areas of Urban Studies and Planning and other related areas such economics, geography, sociology, real estate, construction, etc. Areas of interest include (but are not confined to): Urbanization and suburbanizationUrbanism that includes urban geography, sociology and economicsUrban design and history of citiesUrban transportationUrban infrastructure including public utilitiesUrban regeneration including economic developmentLocal plansHistoric preservationEnvironment, public open space and recreationHousingCommunity engagementPlanning management, implementation and enforcementPlanning systems and processes, information and policy analysisTransportation EngineeringTown planningSocial Research examines the people who inhabit and use the spaces of architectureCultural Research studies place-making and the norms of the inhabitants of natural and built places past, present, and futureDesign Research considers the processes of shaping and making of placesEducational Research examines the pedagogies of urban studies and related fieldsYou may participate as panel organizer, presenter of one paper, chair a session or observer. Special arrangements will be made with a local luxury hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A Greek night of entertainment with dinner, a special one-day cruise to selected Greek islands, an archaeological tour of Athens and a one-day visit to Delphi.
