2015 CECE-CEMA Summit

Smart Regulation for Smart Machines

Once again, the Summit will bring together a unique blend of business leaders, EU decision-makers, partner organisations and journalists to discuss some fundamental challenges and opportunities for our industries.  This year's edition will focus on the theme of 'Smart Regulation for Smart Machines'.The construction and agricultural machinery industries are innovative technology-leaders and part of the wider European engineering industry. Global competition is getting fiercer. The rhythm of globalisation and digitalisation is increasing. There is a growing race for capital, expertise, resources and markets, as the world is facing major challenges in terms of environmental  protection, climate change, and energy supply. The challenge of working towards smart, sustainable and inclusive growth has never been bigger. To address these challenges and match the high expectation of our customers, machines are becoming increasingly smart:* We integrate the most advanced technologies (GPS, electrification, automation systems, remote controls) to deliver high-value and safe machines; *  Our products help to increase productivity and significantly reduce energy-material consumption; *  We are committed to implement the world's most stringent emissions legislation to serve the market with clean equipment; *  We set up collaboration with schools and institutes to forge the engineers of tomorrow. To unleash this smart potential further, our industries need a smart regulatory framework in the years ahead. This means:* Working towards better EU regulation: smart legislation should provide opportunities, not boundaries to the industry. What can the new Commission and the EU's REFIT programme do to advance on this path? *  Stimulating investment in infrastructure and farming: investments are 20% below pre-crisis levels. In other words, Europe faces an annual investment gap of EUR 500bn. How can the Juncker Plan and EU agricultural policies stimulate investments in smart infrastructure and smart farming? *  Promoting free trade: What can a future TTIP and EU-Japan agreement achieve for our industries?Pencil down the event in your diary & stay tuned, further information will soon be unveiled on cece-cema-summit.eu
