On International conference in the framework of event “CIVIL SOCIETY OPEN UNIVERSITY” we will present the possibilities of democratic participation and search for effective methods and ways to promote citizen involvement in decision-making processes.According to the latest results of the Eurobarometer, it’s clear that confidence in the EU is still low – only 40%. On conference we will expose problem-solving aspect of democratic ownership and civic participation in Europe; because the distrust in elite and institutions has a strong emotional charge and we need to address it.On workshop we’ll test methodology for directing a dialogue and discussions about current European topics.The conference takes place within the framework of project Democratic Ownership and civic participation in Europe - DOCPIE,, which is Co-founded by European Union through the Europe for Citizens programme.DOCPIE brings together a diverse audience of 13 countries who will debate, learn and divulge the information with the purpose of shaping our common future in the EU. The main objective of DOCPIE is to increase the level of awareness on European citizenship and European identity, on the necessity of democratic participation in European electoral procedures and on the need for development of networks and cooperative strategies in order to strengthen the Union’s inclusive character.With the event "CIVIL SOCIETY OPEN UNIVERSITY" in Ljubljana, we want to find successful methods and ways to promote citizen involvement in decision-making processes at the level of the European Union.
