The aim of the policy workshop is to raise awareness on the potential of analysis of data produced by learning technologies to catalyse the effective design of adaptive teaching, learning and assessment at scale. Our aim is to bring together quadruple helix representatives interested in exploring the state-of-the-art of learning analytics, as well as to be informed about opportunities and barriers for adoption.
Context: Learning technologies that generate big data are becoming increasingly part of our education and everyday lives. Nowadays, big data is not only produced through the interaction of a learner with a computer in a school or at home, but also, from learners’ mobile tools (such as mobile phones and watches), their accessories (such as their rings and bracelets), their clothes (such as the touch-sensitive clothing from Levi’s and Google), and from low cost sensors placed in the learning environment (from computer vision systems). These diverse and numerous data collection points provide diverse types of data.
The workshop is for: Policy-makers, government representatives, researchers, innovators and other interested stakeholders.
