On 24th November (Thursday) from 10:00 to 10:45 am (GMT +1), EUMCCI is welcoming smart city expert Vincent Fong, General Manager of Knowledge Group. Additionally, EUMCCI is proud to introduce their report “Potentials for EU SME’s in the Malaysian Smart City Sector” which comes complementary to the webinar.

Background: Demand for EU Expertise in Malaysia

Much has been said and written about Asian markets, but predominantly on China, Japan and Singapore. Often only marginally mentioned are their intense competition, market saturation and weakening growth rates. However, Asia has far more to offer than only three countries.

While proving their solid economy in several external crises, Malaysia is straight on its way to become the third and largest industrialised nation in Southeast Asia.

Part of Malaysia’s strategy is to focus on smart city projects and become a showcase in Asia. In doing so, current smart city project amount to a double digit billion Euro volume.

Despite the heavy focus on smart city solutions over the recent years, Malaysia’s local industry is not considered to have the own innovative and technological strength to carry out the development on their own. Therefore, international firms are attracted with various incentives to invest in the location and generate a sustainable knowledge transfer.

As often falsely expected, the capital Kuala Lumpur is not spearheading national smart city development. The industry landscape of Malaysia is very diverse and therefore must be understood before entering the market.

The Smart City Projects in Malaysia webinar is exactly aiming to fill this knowledge gap with the introduction of a smart city expert and offers additionally a free Smart City Sector Report tailored for EU firms.
