The focus of this Master Class will be on fossil fuel selection, purchasing and energy mix: natural gas (pipeline and LNG), coal, fuel oils and renewable energy. The geographic focus will be Central America, South America and Caribbean. Experience from North America, Europe and Asia will be drawn upon whenever needed. Principals and techniques covered will be applicable to utilities, IPPs, large industrial fuel users such as cement and chemical plants etc.

The Course will span a broad range of issues from the primary factors driving global fossil fuel markets and national energy security to the details of relevant provisions in fuel and energy purchase contracts. Contracted provision language will be drawn from a library of over 300 international fuel contracts. The rising impact on fuel markets of renewable and environmental concerns will be a major theme throughout the course.
