This workshop brings together speakers from the OECD, the city of Tampere and the Kommun of Trelleborgs. Each will share the experience and lessons of helping communities to navigate shocks of different types, from economic downturns through to major migrant flows. The programme is designed to provide an opportunity to discuss the lessons that have been learnt by authorities that have been affected by adverse shocks. Are the lessons learned transferable and replicable or do they depend on a particular time or place? Are there strategies and actions that can be put in place by local and regional authorities to support communities and if so what tools and techniques will assist in doing so?
The morning will conclude with a facilitated discussion exploring what knowledge and tools might be useful to practitioners seeking to strengthen the resilience of their communities. The workshop will appeal to policymakers and practitioners grappling with the challenge of securing sustainable growth and well-being in the face of economic and social uncertainties.
