The Digital Markets Act (DMA), proposed by the European Commission in December 2020 and now under discussion in the European Parliament and Council, marks a new era for the regulation of online platforms in Europe, along with the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Throughout early 2021, CERRE hosted a series of ‘rendez-vous’ events to discuss the two proposals in detail with industry, regulatory authorities, experts and policy makers. To wrap up a series of valuable debates, CERRE will host a high-level discussion of the DMA on Tuesday 4 May, 16:00-17:30 CEST. The event will feature two separate panels.
The political panel will feature French Minister of State for the Digital Transition and Electronic Communications, Cédric O, and Member of the European Parliament, Andreas Schwab. The academic/practitioner panel will see Dr. Cristina Caffarra and Professor Harry First offer global and US perspectives, respectively, as well as CERRE Academic Co-Director Alexandre de Streel‘s reflection on the discussions that emerged from CERRE’s ‘rendez-vous’ series and DMA recommendations.
This event is open to all and will be livestreamed on the CERRE website (registration link) and YouTube channel (CERRE Think Tank). Viewers will have the chance to ask questions via Slido during the event using the code #CERREDMA. Catch up on the four events earlier in the ‘rendez-vous’ series on the CERRE YouTube channel.
