The mandate of the current Presidency “trio” composed of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia has been profoundly affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The joint programme of the presidency, that was adopted on 9 June 2020, already reflected the fact that the European digital transformation and the strengthening of the EU’s digital sovereignty would be at the core of the EU action. The Slovenian Presidency has an opportunity to ensure continuity and pursue the work on the resilience of the continent, as well as the green and digital transition.
