SHANGHAI, an international metropolis, built its identity on the integration between tradition and modernity, West and East. These two intertwined souls find their highest expression in the city's design. To have a taste of the unique design of Shanghai, visitors will soon have the opportunity to find it in an exhibition opening up in the center of Brussels city.
Jointly hosted by Atlas Hiseas and UNESCO Creative Cities (Shanghai) Promotion Office: Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design, the “Shanghai Living Room” Designed by Shanghai Exhibition will be open to the public in Brussels for three months from September 29th, 2021, at Atlas Creative Space “City Living Room” (Rue Melsens 15, 1000, Brussels).
The exhibition presents a series of collaborations between Shanghai's time-honored brands and Shanghai creative minds. Its central approach is to apply the dynamic of design to Made by Shanghai products while respecting the DNA of these houses rich in historic legacy and heritages.
In the exhibition, visitors will find a collection of Shanghai creative products of interior design, home appliances, beauty & skincare, culture & sports, lifestyle and etc. Revisited by creative professionals and designers, the exhibition highlights the inclusivity, innovation, and heritage of Shanghai design. Collaborating brands in the spotlight include Herborist, Shanghai National Musical Instruments Factory, DHS, MEW Rug, Shitongzi, Maries, Warrior, M&G, Heesonzi, HOTO, Poa, Mijia and etc.
The Exhibition will be inaugurated on Sep. 29 followed by the "Europe (Belgium)-China Cultural and Creative Online Forum",gathering creative practitioners, change-makers, entrepreneurs, and legislators from Europe and China. The exchange on the current development of the creative industry, the sharing of successful practices, and the questions of how to promote creativity and design for brand empowerment will be discussed in depth.
