Gender-based inequality in career advancement opportunities has been a persistent challenge for women worldwide in the 21st century. In the healthcare sector, women continue to be severely underrepresented in top leadership roles, even though they constitute the great majority of the specialised workforce. Based on the results of international and national studies carried out by the Advanced School of Health Economics and Management (ALTEMS) on the competencies of hospital CEOs and resilience competencies of doctors-managers, we will discuss progress and open issues in overcoming the “glass ceiling” in healthcare systems.
This webinar will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the “state of the art” interventions aimed at covering this gap, highlighting both pros and cons of healthcare organisations’ culture and environment. Thanks to the participation of health managers, we will debate this evidence and the priorities of healthcare organisations and policy makers to overcome the gender gap in health management in the next years, with insights on their experiences and opinions on the topic.
