EntreComp for Sustainable Development Goals Hackathon

Achieving Synergies and Champions in the Implementation of the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework, an initiative of the European Union, is delighted to open registration for an all new hackathon to reach a new future.

Ready, steady, hack!

Do you want to collaborate across Europe to develop innovative solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using entrepreneurial learning?

Join us online to connect, collaborate and hack new ideas to support young people to innovate, start businesses, and generate their own employment ;

Get ready to join the EntreComp for SDGs Hackathon! Your opportunity to show how EntreComp can contribute to sustainability and development. Participation is limited, so book your spot now!

This event is part of a project for the European Commission and the European Innovation and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) to achieve synergies in the implementation of EntreComp, in particular by linking entrepreneurial learning to the green and digital transition.

The hackathon is hosted by  EIT Raw Materials, and supported by Bantani Education, All Digital, EIT Food, and PEEP.

What to expect

The hackathon is an online event where educators and professionals from across the worlds of entrepreneurial and educational practice are challenged to work together for half a day and create solutions for reaching the sustainable goals. Working in collaborative groups, you will have to find innovative training ideas to achieve one of the following SDGs:

  • SDG 4 Quality Education
  • SDG 5 Gender Equality
  • SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth

Each group will have two hours to develop a training idea related to a chosen SDG and develop it using a Business Canvas Model provided by the organisers. The teams will be supported by facilitators, but will work in full autonomy to develop their project. Finally, each team will present their findings to a Jury of Experts in the entrepreneurial field. The best idea will be chosen by all the participants through live voting and awarded a special prize!

Due to the interactive nature of this event, participation is limited, and the organisers reserve the right to select participants should the maximum number of seats be filled.

Expected outcomes

By joining the EntreComp for SDGs Hackathon, we hope that you will:

  • Increase your knowledge of how to connect entrepreneurial learning to sustainability and development themes
  • Get the opportunity to win a special prize to support you in your entrepreneurial journey

What are the Sustainable Development Goals and why are they relevant to entrepreneurial learning?

Increasingly, entrepreneurial learning is the approach to exploring new ways to reach the SDGs. Entrepreneurial competences are critical to enabling young people to innovate, start businesses, and generate their own employment opportunities.

EntreComp is the framework that is widely used to show what competences help young people to think and act entrepreneurially in life and work – supporting them to be entrepreneurial throughout life in different contexts and for different purposes.

How can it be used for these SDGs?

Gender equality – helping young people to understand how entrepreneurial they are, community programs to introduce girls to digital and entrepreneurial skills, training for women to develop AI-based businesses…

Quality Education – create teaching and learning to explicitly develop entrepreneurial competences, creating value for others through learner-led projects, entrepreneurial action projects based on calls-to-action from local community…

Decent Work and Economic Growth – design new training to support social entrepreneurs, skills programs for cooperatives, self reflection tools for business support organisations, developing training for scaling businesses…
