Martyna Kalvaitytė is a PhD researcher at the Hertie School, where she focuses on AI governance and regulation, particularly the standardisation processes to meet the EU AI Act needs. She is the Article 19 Internet of Rights Fellow for 2023/24 and a freelance researcher on AI trustworthiness for the VDE. Previously, Martyna worked on the EU innovation policy and the DMA as a Blue Book trainee at the EC DG CNECT. She has worked on AI governance at GPAI (OECD) and AI standardisation at AXA's AI research team. Her interest in AI governance stems from privacy research, which she has pursued across startups, NGOs and think tanks across Lithuania, Washington DC and India. Martyna graduated with distinction from Sciences Po Paris with a Master's in Public Policy, Digital and New Technologies.
Richard Dreyling, MSc (eGovernance Technologies and Services) is currently a PhD student and early-stage researcher in the Next Generation Digital States research group in the Department of Software Science, at TalTech. He lectures on AI in Public Services, Research Methods, and Public Sector Service Design and Implementation. Richard’s research covers the use of AI in public services. Prior to coming to TalTech to study eGovernance, he was located in the Bay Area of California working as a Consulting Solutions Architect at a systems integrator, focused on enabling clients’ business objectives through the implementation of advanced technologies. During this time, he helped clients to bring many international IT implementations to fruition.
Stanislav is a young Ukrainian professional based in Brussels. He has graduated from Erasmus Mundus master programme on public sector innovation and e-governance. After completing the Schuman Traineeship at DG ITEC of the European Parliament and the Belgian Federal Government, he is currently conducting his doctoral studies at KU Leuven.
His main research focuses on the use of blockchain- and Web 3.0 technologies in the public sector, the issues of governance of decentralised technologies and what they imply for the future of public administration. Stanislav is also a teaching assistant at the 'Digital Public Governance' course, and a student representative of the Digital Government Society (DGS).
During this seminar series, early-career researchers present their pioneering work, and their insights are complemented by the perspectives of policy experts and public sector practitioners.
