Introductory training on gender-based violence in academia and the 7P framework

Organised by the GenderSAFE project | Funded by the European Union

Join us for a training session delving into the topic of gender-based violence in academia, centred around UniSAFE's 7P model: Prevalence, Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Provision of services, Partnerships, and Policies. Participants will acquire a deeper understanding of key EU policy frameworks and priorities regarding gender-based violence in research and academia. Gain practical advice and draw inspiration from successful practices already in place at institutions across the EU.

Learning objectives:

  • Gain a common understanding of concepts related to gender-based violence and understand its impact in
  • Learn about the prevalence of gender-based violence in the research field and highlight its specific
  • Understand the 7 Ps model of UniSAFE (Prevalence, Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Provision of services, Partnerships and Policies) which represents a holistic approach to address gender-based violence in higher education institutions and research
  • Get informed about inspiring practices for setting up and implementing institutional policies to address gender-based violence in academia adopted by European and Member States higher education institutions and research organisations within the framework of the 7

The training is addressed to those at the beginning stages of creating and implementing a policy framework to address gender-based violence in academia. It is meant for: Gender equality officers/focal points, equality and/or diversity officers; Human resources officers; Gender equality plan implementing teams; Health and safety officers; Head of Departments/Units in charge or involved in gender-based violence; Trainers on the topic of gender-based violence in academic settings.

As seats are limited, priority will be given to individuals at the initial stages of developing and implementing policy to address gender-based violence within their institution and correspond to the profile of participants. Preference will be given to individuals from countries participating in Horizon Europe, with special consideration for registrants from ‘Widening countries’ as defined by the European Commission: ;We kindly ask for your understanding as we strive to include a diverse range of participants.
