CER/Clifford Chance hybrid discussion on 'Challenges, opportunities, regulation: The European approach to AI'

with Rachel Bae, Dessislava Savova and Werner Stengg

The EU has pushed ahead with an Artificial Intelligence Act, the US President has issued the AI Executive Order, and the next UK government could reconsider the need for a new AI law. However, while policy-makers are focused on imposing new rules on AI, they have spent less time considering how developments in AI will challenge existing regulatory regimes – including in competition policy, consumer protection, data protection, labour rights and economic regulation. How can regulators across Europe and globally prepare for these challenges, while accounting for the opportunities AI offers? How should law-makers and governments update existing regulation to make it 'AI-proofed'?

Our speakers will begin the event by making some opening remarks, after which Zach Meyers, Assistant Director at the Centre for European Reform, will moderate a discussion held under the Chatham House Rule.

This is a hybrid event. Please contact the Centre for European Reform using the 'Contact' button above for further information, including how to register.
