Other events - Thirteenth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol - 20-09-2023 - Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs

The thirteenth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG) will take place on 20-21 September 2023 in Brussels. The JPSG brings together Members of national parliaments and the European Parliament to fulfil the scrutiny and oversight on the activities of Europol, including on fundamental rights.The JPSG meets at least twice a year. It is Co-Chaired by the European Parliament and the country holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The draft agenda includes an intervention by Europol Executive Director, Ms Catherine De Bolle, and video messages by the Minister of the Interior of Spain, Mr Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez, and the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ms Ylva Johansson.The JPSG will also hear a presentation by the European Data Protection Supervisor, Mr Wojciech Wiewiórowski. High profile discussions will include topics such as Europol activities linked to the war in Ukraine, the situation of organised crime in the EU and Europol's Financial and Economic Crime threat assessment, including a focus on corruption in the EU.
