This hearing seeks to contribute to the ongoing work of the EMPL Committee by looking into future avenues to support more socially responsible public procurement in the EU.Together with experts, the social partners and local municipal authorities, this hearing will explore how public procurement in the EU can become a vehicle for strengthening collective bargaining and social progress, and what further action at EU level is needed. The hearing will be combined with a presentation of a study on the social impact of public procurement, which was concluded in October, and will thus provide an opportunity to discuss the findings of the study with a wider group of experts and social partners.
