Dr Astrid Denker

Doctor in economics with a specialisation in institutional economics and development economics

For 25 years, Astrid has been active in leading and advisory positions in bilateral German development cooperation. She has been a team leader in long-term field assignments, short-term consultant, management trainer and consultant in GIZ and KfW projects in many country contexts and has been involved in tendering processes as well.

As a part-time employee of a consulting firm, she has written numerous technical proposals for GIZ and KfW tenders. She got to know the big picture in bilateral German development cooperation during her two years as a consultant at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Her areas of expertise as a consultant and evaluator include green economy / private sector development, environment / climate and development cooperation in crisis and conflict regions, each with a focus on institutional and organisational development.
