Portfolios of loans are normally implemented by traditional banks. But in the skills & education field, 19% of the financial intermediaries are alternative lenders, among which 6% are education providers. Bio-algorithmic Entanglements: Crafting our Pluriversal Future with Prof Paola Ricuarte. This talk explores the entanglements between bio-socio-algorithmic assemblages. It contends that alternative models of the world require alternative approaches to technological development grounded in an ontology of care. Drawing upon the onto-epistemologies of indigenous thinkers, the talk acknowledges the diverse pathways being forged by indigenous communities in the territory of Abya Yala towards a future that embraces pluriversality and communality. It underscores the imperative of nurturing and preserving the intricate web of interdependencies constituting life on Earth. Paola Ricaurte is an associate professor in the Department of Media and Digital Culture at Tecnológico de Monterrey and faculty associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Alongside Nick Couldry and Ulises Mejías, she co-founded Tierra Común, a network of academics, practitioners and activists interested in decolonizing data. She is a member of the Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms and leads the Latin American and Caribbean hub of the Feminist AI Research Network. In addition to her academic work, she participates in civil society initiatives to promote digital rights, the development of public interest technologies, and the dissemination of the ecosocial impacts of technological development.

Update on Hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS).
17 May 2024
ERN ReCONNET
Short description Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are exclusion diagnoses. Both are aspecific phenotypes sharing joint hypermobility and minor soft tissue anomalies with monogenic connective tissue disorders. Therefore, molecular testing may be useful to confirm the diagnosis by excluding partially overlapping disorders within and outside the current nosology of Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and related disorders. The first presentation is focused on offering an overview of the clinical boundaries of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorders, and to describe the current molecular genetic diagnostics applied in the field of clinically relevant joint hypermobility. The second presentation reports about the new acquisitions on morphological and functional aspects of peripheral microcirculation and skin layers in hypermobile EDS, as peripheral microcirculation was assessed for the first time in the literature and skin layers were previously poorly studied. Microvascular fragility is present also in hypermobile EDS as well as dermal thickness is thinner. Speakers Dr. Marco Castori is the Head of the Division of Medical Genetics, the Coordinator of the Rare Disease Program at the Hospital Fondazione IRCCS-Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, San Giovanni Rotondo - Foggia (Italy). In addition, Dr. Castori is a Member of ERN ReCONNET Working Group on Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and ERN-SKIN as well. Prof. Alberto Sulli is an Associate Professor of Rheumatology at IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino - Genova (Italy). Prof. Sulli is a Member of the ERN ReCONNET and in particular, he is a Disease Coordinator of the working group on Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes in ERN ReCONNET. Professor of Rheumatology in several degree, postgraduate, and doctorate courses. Prof. Sulli is an Expert in the use of the Videocapillaroscopy and he is author/coauthor of 267 international scientific publications in indexed journals. Democracy is a collective achievement and 2024 has been called its biggest year. Europeans go to the polls in June, to vote for their representatives at the European Parliament, and 8 of the 10 most populous countries in the world are also holding elections. How can geopolitical risk affect markets, banks and non-banks like investment funds, and what can financial institutions do to manage it? 09:55 – How can AI help the financial system? Artificial intelligence offers promising ways to improve efficiency, customer service and risk management. 13:32 – Can AI be a source of systemic risk? Deploying controllers more flexibly to specific portions of en-route airspace, sectors and working positions, when and where needed, can help ATM become more resilient and responsive to unexpected events, changes in traffic demand or staff shortages. The project aims to advance the concept behind increased flexibility of controller validations (IFAV) based on technical enablers, such as specific controller assistance systems that provide support on sector specific procedures and rules. The project will focus on the use of IFAV in upper area control and in remote tower centres. https://www.sesarju.eu/projects/IFAV3 #sesar #innovation #EU #research More information: http://www.sesarju.eu Find us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/SESAR_JU Find us on LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/company/sesar-joint-undertaking Subscribe to our channel to follow more innovations in the ATM world!

The webinar was dedicated to the launch of the report on Women's Rights Perspective on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights that can be downloaded at: https://www.migrantwomennetwork.org/2024/05/16/womens-rights-perspective-on-the-eu-charter-of-fundamental-rights/ As the first legally binding fundamental rights primary legislation of the European Union, the EU Charter is a crucial legal instrument for human rights in the EU, postulating that “equality between women and men must be ensured in all areas’’ (Article 23) and that the Charter has the same legal value as the Treaties (Article 6 of the TEU). Nevertheless, as emphasised by the Council of Europe report on “Protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls”17, migrant women still face heightened risks and persistent barriers that inhibit their full enjoyment of rights: “despite the existence of women centred norms and policies, reports from international and civil society organisations have highlighted systemic weaknesses in the responses to the risks faced by women migrating to and within Europe, notably in the last years”. This report aims to provide a comprehensive overview, through the lenses of equality between women and men, women’s rights, and the fundamental rights enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, particularly as they pertain to the experiences of migrant women. We will provide an overarching view of the Charter’s history and its current interpretation in relation to some of the rights enshrined in the Charter, which are of paramount importance for the effective protection of migrant women. This analysis will demonstrate how the Charter can be used by legal practitioners, as a tool for advancing equality between women and men, non-discrimination and access to justice, as well as ways in which it should be improved/ interpreted/ amended/ used to provide an approach sensitive to the specific needs of migrant women, as well as women as a group. This report is produced as part to the FULFIL Project, co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by the European Network of Migrant Women in partnership with OLYMPE Association and ARTEMIS Law firm in France, PAROLIN Law firm and IROKO Association in Italy, Association against Femicide (ACF) in Portugal, and European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA).

Communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) infrastructure is the foundation for the provision of air navigation services. To make CNS more resilient and efficient, the Digital European Sky will see a move away from CNS as physical assets towards a service-based approach. Mindful of this needed change, the project will develop digital platforms and services leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to enable future data-sharing service delivery models. It aims at sharing CNS data between air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and other aviation stakeholders (e.g. civil and military airspace users, airports, national authorities, etc). 🛳️ Now that’s a space ship. 🚀 Have you ever wondered how we transport rockets? All the elements that make up Ariane 6 are manufactured in mainland Europe and then transported by this ship, named Canopée. It is the first custom-built transporter to use sails, reducing emissions and saving on fuel by up to 30%, and on this trip, it travels for 10 days covering over 7000 km to reach Europe’s Spaceport in French Giuana. The hybrid-propulsion vessel is 121 m long and has 37 m tall sails. Canopée rotates continuously between stop-offs to load each Ariane 6 stage and other parts and ship them across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe’s spaceport. 📹 ESA/Arianegroup #ESA #Ariane6 #Rocket
