EU-DEEP Project Public Conclusions Meeting

Integrating Distributed Energy Resources into today's electrical system

EU-DEEP project started in January 2004 under the 6FP aiming to remove the main barriers to Distributed Energy Resources (DER) massive European implementation.DER are energy sources that provide energy close to the point of consumption. This approach is basically different from the traditional model of centralized production of electricity containing large power plants (thermal or nuclear), far from most consumption areas and requiring important infrastructures for the transport and distribution of the electrical energy. The widespread development of DER in Europe faces three major barriers related with technology, market and regulation. The challenge EU-DEEP had during the last five years and a half was to overcome them. Now it has come the time for publishing and discussing the results that this huge initiative has achieved. 41 European partners from 15 countries, including research centers, energy operators, industrial manufacturers, academics, professionals and national agencies have participated in this project. A European commercial organization is about to be created for implementing the tools, methodologies and trainings developed within EU-DEEP beyond the end of the project.Project achievements will be explained in detail in Brussels on 22th June 2009 during the Public Conclusions Meeting. For those who cannot attend the public meeting, there will be a live webstreaming during the whole session, accessible from www.eu-deep.com
