With the Scottish Government laying out plans for a revised Alcohol Strategy, this seminar will look at the effectiveness of alcohol strategies and media campaigns in England and Wales and what more can be done to reduce levels of alcohol related harm.We are delighted to have keynote addresses from: Dr Will Cavendish, Director of Health and Well-Being, Department of Health; Professor Ian Gilmore, President, Royal College of Physicians; Chief Constable Mike Craik, Northumbria Police and Lead Chief Constable for Alcohol Licensing, Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO); Professor Mark Bellis, Director of the Centre for Public Health, Liverpool John Moores University; Alison Douglas, Head of Alcohol Policy Team, Scottish Government; Ben Read, Managing Economist, Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) and Mike Benner, Chief Executive, CAMRA.Simon Clarke, Founder, The Free Society; David Poley, Chief Executive, Portman Group; Harald Schmidt, Assistant Director, Nuffield Council on Bioethics; and Nicolay Sorensen, Director of Policy and Communications, Alcohol Concern have also agreed to speak at this seminar.John Grogan MP, Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, and Chair, All-Party Parliamentary BBC Group and Tobias Ellwood MP, Shadow Minister for Gambling, Licensing and Tourism have kindly agreed to chair this seminar.
