Fundamentals of the LNG Industry

This course provides you with an overview of the worldwide LNG industry from the producer to the end-user. It looks at the risks, strategic choices and opportunities that it presents to both buyers and sellers.

Course BackgroundIn the past few years, the global LNG market has evolved ever-more rapidly. The industry has seen the entry and exit of a variety of players together with substantial volatility in prices and patterns of demand in all its major markets. Furthermore, the building of excess shipping and LNG import capacity has resulted in some new optimisation opportunities in what is still a business based on long-term sales contracts.This highly-interactive course provides participants with an overview of the worldwide LNG industry from the producer to the end-user. It looks at the risks, strategic choices and opportunities that it presents to both buyers and sellers in the context of both long and short time horizons. The course is presented as a mix of presentations, case studies and practical exercises. The interactive sessions will look at the risks and benefits of various choices being made at the time of developing a new project, LNG sales from both buyers' and sellers' perspectives as well as negotiating some key issues in a long term agreement and the interchangeability of LNG between different destinations.
