Gas Turbine: Design and Performance

Obtain a Comprehensive Understanding on the Effects of Design Parameters on Engine Performance

Large commercial aircrafts, fighter planes and UAV’s rely on gas turbines for propulsion. As gas turbines play a critical role in civilian and military aircraft, there is a constant need to understand more about their design, performance and maintenance. The appreciation of the design of gas turbine is important, as it gives insight into how various components affect the performance of the aircraft. Often, many engineers are not given the opportunity to appreciate the physics and electronics behind gas turbine. It is important for engineers to recognise that each component of gas turbine will affect its performance. By understanding the principles behind engines, engineers will be more perceptive towards the constraints on design characteristics, to potential hazard of external factors, testing and evaluation of jet engines prior to installation of gas turbines.
