Good health lies at the heart of active ageing. As people live longer, and the population group over 65 years old keeps increasing, health promotion and disease prevention will benefit both individuals and society at large. By staying in good health, people can work longer, live in their own homes, and keep up an active life of good quality. As providers of health and care services with experience in working on a long term basis with public health promotion and illness prevention, the regions and municipalities are pivotal in reaching the goal of more years of healthy living. The aim of the 2012 SIRG conference “Health promotion and prevention” is to present efficient measures to promote good health and prevent frailty and illness among the elderly. A number of European regions will present best practices on physical activity, fall prevention and methods for promoting good health.Attendance to the conference is free, but registration is required before 9 November.
