Qualitative Research for the Applied Health DisciplinesQualitative methods have attracted wide appeal within the health disciplines because of their capacity to capture the complexity and context that are not amenable to quantitative approaches.
In this course, which assumes a basic grounding in research methodology, we will consider evolving trends in methodological applications that situate qualitative projects within an evidence-informed, knowledge transfer-oriented health science culture. Building upon a consideration of the methodological tradition from which available qualitative research technique derives, participants will be guided in developing skills associated with the design and conduct of qualitative studies based on the framework of health disciplinary logic, and supported in the challenge of conceptualizing qualitative projects that have relevance to the applied context of today’s health systems.
