Circus, Inclusion & Citizenship Day

Interpretation English / French

Social circus uses circus art to foster social inclusion and is specifically targeted at disadvantaged people. With this day, le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde, le Cirque du Soleil, l’Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles, their European partners from Caravan network and the regions hosting them wish to present what is social circus and what are the activities carried out in favour of inclusion and citizenship throughout Europe. This conference will give the opportunity to showcase the positive results that can be obtained through the examples of various projects cofounded by the European Union with programmes such as Leonardo, the Culture programme and Youth in action.A first round table will deal with the emergence of a new profession, namely social circus trainer with the presentation of the Leonardo project, Circus Trans Formation, carried out by eight European circus schools. The second round table will focus on the links between art, social inclusion and citizenship through the presentation of the “Hip Cirq Europ’” programme, co-financed by the European Union and which aims at the recognition of emerging cultures from priority neighborhoods. The conference will be followed by the dress rehearsal of the “Hip Cirq Europ’” show on tour in Brussels !
