At the 80th IEC General Meeting, DG GROW of the European Commission will host an event to provide their insights on the ‘Joint Initiative on Standardisation’ and to promote and launch
the 15 Actions of the Joint Initiative while encouraging engagement with international, European and national standardization organizations, and other interested stakeholders.

Topics that will be addressed during the event are:

Timeliness - What is key to timely standardization? (promoting faster standards development) Modernize - What contributes to modernizing the European Standardization System? (modernizing the way standards are produced in Europe) Prioritize - How to better prioritize the European Standardization System? (closing the gap between research priorities and European standardization, clearer prioritization)

Special focus will be given to three Juncker priorities: digital transformation, energy and Trade, and on Action 13 – ‘Promote the European regulatory model supported by voluntary standards’ and its link to international standardization in third countries, and
Action 15 – ‘Improve the representation of European SMEs and societal stakeholders' interests in international standardization processes’.
