The Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) organizes A Panel on the Challenge of Migration Flows in the Mediterranean Basin, 19-22 December 2016, Athens, Greece as part of the 10th Annual International Conference on Global Studies: Business, Economic, Social and Cultural Aspects.
The aim of the panel is to bring together academics and researchers from all areas of studies relative to migration, refugees and other related disciplines. Selected papers will be published at the Athens Journal of Mediterranean Studies in a special issue on the Refugee Crisis and Forced Migration Flows in the Mediterranean Basin. Dr. Anna Gansbergen, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany is the guest editor of this special issue which will be published early 2017 at the latest. Papers from all areas (theoretical, empirical, and methodological) and disciplines (politics, sociology, economics, etc) will be considered.

Special arrangements will be made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A Greek night of entertainment with dinner, a special one-day cruise to selected Greek islands, an archaeological tour of Athens and a one-day visit to Delphi.
