Competences of the EPPO and Cooperation with National Authorities

Investigating and Prosecuting Offences in Cooperation with the EPPO

Objective:

This seminar aims to make prosecutors familiar with the forthcoming European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), which will become fully operational by the end of 2020. It will focus on the competences of the EPPO and its cooperation with national authorities bound by the EPPO Regulation. At the heart of the training will be workshops dealing with relevant case studies.

Key topics:

  • Case studies on the structure, status and material, territorial, and personal competences of the EPPO
  • Case studies on the application of the PIF Directive and particularities regarding its implementation in the EU Member States
  • Case studies on the cooperation with the EPPO in investigations
  • Case studies on the termination of investigations and prosecution before national courts, admissibility of evidence, rules on dismissal and transfer of proceedings
  • Cooperation with non-participating EU Member States, third states, OLAF and Eurojust
  • Judicial review by national courts and the CJEU

Participation conditions

The number of places available for participants is limited and subject to an application procedure.
Spanish applicants who work for the prosecution service must apply for this event through CEJ.

Seminar participation fee
€150 including documentation, lunches and dinner.

Travel and accommodation
Travel costs up to €300 and two nights' hotel accommodation up to €105/night (15-17 May 2019) will be reimbursed by ERA upon receipt of the original receipts, tickets, boarding passes, invoices after the seminar. Participants are asked to book their own travel and accommodation.

These rules do not apply to representatives of EU Institutions and Agencies who should cover their own travel and accommodation.
 

Who should attend?

This seminar is especially targeted at prosecutors bound by the EPPO Regulation.
It is also open to other interested prosecutors, judges and defence lawyers from all EU Member States.
