The event marks the culmination of the ALLIANCE project, including leading OEMs (DAIMLER, Volkswagen, Toyota, CRF - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, VOLVO and OPEL). Since 2016, they have been developing materials and process technologies for the lightweight vehicles of tomorrow.
Effective and affordable lightweighting is one of the most challenging tasks of modern automotive designers and engineers. Lightweight parts need to be cost-efficient, easily manufacturable, perform well in a crash, and above all, reduce weight. Achieving the above requires a holistic approach, bringing together the whole value chain.
The ALLIANCE collaborative R&I project - supported by EUCAR - brings together six leading OEMs, four suppliers, and eight knowledge partners in developing the lightweight materials, manufacturing technologies, and support tools, to accelerate the adoption of lightweight technologies in the automotive sector.
We invite you to join the project’s final event, the ALLIANCE Future of Automotive Lightweighting Day, on September 19th, 2019 in Aachen, to get to know the results from the project, and participate in the several discussions dedicated to materials and manufacturing innovations in the field of automotive lightweighting. The event will take place at the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) of RWTH Aachen University, following the Aachen Body Engineering Days.
