European Foreign Policy towards Eastern Europe: Future of Eastern Partnership beyond 2020

In 2019, the Eastern Partnership policy celebrates its 10-year anniversary since its launching during the Prague Summit of 2009. The crucial question is how to best ensure that the Eastern Partnership stays as a relevant policy concept beyond 2020.

Wednesday December 4, 2019, 9:00 – 12:00

Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU

Rue Caroly 15, 1050 Brussels

In 2019, the Eastern Partnership policy celebrates its 10-year anniversary since its launching during the Prague Summit of 2009. Over the past decade, this policy has gone through turbulent times, but it has also managed to achieve some very significant ;After the first decade of its existence, DG NEAR organised a public consultation on the future of Eastern Partnership beyond 2020, which allowed for exchange and input from the civil society, academia, the EU member states, business community or the Eastern Partnership countries.

The crucial question is how to best ensure that the Eastern Partnership stays as a relevant policy concept beyond 2020. This is closely linked to what its content on both bilateral and multilateral levels should be in the future? What role should the Czech diplomacy, the V4 and EU, including its institutions and member states play? What did the strategic reflection of the 10 years of the Eastern Partnership bring and what priorities should the EU take on board?

The event is organized by Think Visegrad platform, Association for International Affairs, and the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU.
