Cooling cities - Solutions for Urban Climate Adaptation

The SOLOCLIM project is in its final, fourth year of the doctoral training programme within which six researchers generate solutions for urban outdoor environments. SOLOCLIM (Solutions for Outdoor Climate Adaptation) is a project funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 programme. Since 2019, researchers have been developing models and prototypes regarding vegetation-based solutions, water-based solutions and climate-responsive For these solutions, they used the knowledge and experience of some of the top industry and academic experts in the world in the urban climate adaptation field. The time has come for these six researchers to showcase their solutions for outdoor climate adaptation on both street and city planning scales and discuss their designs with esteemed specialists.

The theme of the event is “Cooling cities - Solutions for Urban Climate Adaptation” and the aim is to bring together three top industry leaders to shed light on the best of the research and practice in urban climate adaptation. The three keynote speakers are Stefano Boeri - Stefano Boeri Architects, Helle Søholt - Gehl Architects, and Matthias Rudolph - Transsolar. The event will be also supported by the SOLOCLIM industry and academia partner participants from Arcadis Nederland, Carlo Ratti Associati, Foster + Partners, ZinCo, Politecnico di Milano, University of Kent, and Wageningen ;

The event will be organised face-2-face at Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy on Monday, 19 June 2023 but it will also be recorded and broadcast online for a wider audience.
