The Aviation Emissions and evaluation of Reduction Options Modelling System (AERO-MS) is a bespoke software developed to examine the environmental and economic impacts of a wide range of policies intended to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions from international and domestic aviation. The types of policies AERO-MS can model include technological, operational and market-based measures as well as sustainable aviation fuels. The tool has been extensively applied for policy-impact assessments in studies and research projects.
The objective of this Horizon2020-funded project was to update and enhance AERO-MS and thereby increase the European modelling capability for a wide range of future aviation policy assessments. The extended and updated capabilities of AERO-MS will be used to support future impact assessments underpinning policy discussions and decisions at European as well as ICAO level. The main users of the upgraded AERO-MS tool will likely be the European Commission, EASA, EU Member States, NGOs and research centres.
The project has now successfully accomplished all tasks. In this webinar EASA and the NLR-led Consortium will: - introduce the research scope and objectives, - summarise the research activities and main results, - inform about the expected benefits from the project, and - give the possibility for questions and answers.
Further information on this project including the public deliverables can be found on the EASA project page: Environmental Research – Market-based Measures
