Maxette Pirbakas was born in Guadeloupe in 1975. She grew up with two brothers and a sister in a family of 5 generations of farmers in which hard work, rigour, a sense of duty and respect were not optional, but cardinal values.

So it was only natural that from an early age she should be involved in the agricultural sector, which is one of the main spearheads of the archipelago's economy.

A graduate of the Institut de Formation des Cadres Paysans (IFOCAP), Maxette Pirbakas also holds an IATA-FUAAV diploma as an international travel agent, after completing a baccalauréat in literature.

Fully involved in the agricultural world of the Guadeloupe archipelago, she is the spokesperson for farmers, in particular smallholders and farming families, who play a vital role in the agri-food industry and the economy of the islands of Guadeloupe.

A committed, pugnacious and far-sighted trade unionist, Maxette Pirbakas has held positions of responsibility within a number of Guadeloupe's agricultural governing bodies and institutions.

She stands out for her combative nature, determination and sense of commitment, in a predominantly male world.

Elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019, Maxette Pirbakas is one of the first women from overseas France and the first woman from Guadeloupe to sit in the European Parliament.

She will be extending her fight for the agricultural sector in all overseas territories, and more broadly for the defence of these outermost regions of France and Europe.

In the European Parliament, Maxette Pirbakas stands out for her intense activity and her many speeches aimed at making the voice of overseas France heard.

After two unsuccessful political experiments, in 2023 she set up her own political party to gain greater autonomy: Le Rassemblement Pour la France et les Outre-mer (RPFOM).
