SUMMARY:According to a report by Colombia's National Centre for Historical Memory, more than 220,000 people have been killed in the armed conflict and more than seven million people have registered with the government's Victim's Unit. The Colombian government and the country's largest left-wing rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc), are currently trying to end more than five decades of armed conflict. The EU is committed to support this peace process in Colombia and some high level meetings were organized recently in this regard. Colombia is one of the EU’s most important and trusted partners in Latin America and we have seen that the cooperation between Colombia and the European Union has been developing steadily over the past few years. In this regard is being held this event of discussion with some of the prominent figures from the political, legal and academic areas of the EU and Colombia.
