The Collaborative Economy

Join us for a debate on a new trend in e-commerce and the political and legal issues it triggers

Without doubt the emerging business model involving the use of online platforms and an intermediary connecting suppliers and customers is making an important contribution to growth and job creation. At the same time it challenges traditional industries and forms of employment.  Questions are raised both from traditional firms and those in the collaborative economy about the regulatory framework – taxation, licensing, consumer protection, social security and employment – and how it should be applied. The political and regulatory challenge will be to respond to this uncertainty in a balanced way, avoiding market fragmentation and encouraging innovation while safeguarding workers and consumers.    The speakers are: Martin Bailey, Acting Head of Unit, Digital Single Market, DG CONNECT (tbc)Kaja Kallas, MEP ALDE, ITRE Rapporteur for the report Towards a Digital Single Market ActOla Landström, Legal Adviser, Department for the Internal Market, Swedish National Board of TradeMagnus Maurex, CEO and founder, yobeedaPlease register by 27 November at the latest.Warmly welcome!Gunnar Hökmark, Chairman of SPN BrusselsOlle Ludvigsson, Vice Chairman of SPN BrusselsKarin Atthoff, Confederation of Swedish Enterprise Brussels
