EU Energy Policy

Future challenges, the energy transition and the European Green Deal

About the course

After four successful editions of the two-week executive training course on the “Energy Union”, for 2020 we have developed a new one-week programme which will give participants a thorough understanding of EU energy policies and the European Green Deal.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of the course will take place online.

By the end of the course, participants will have a full understanding of the different aspects to take into consideration when approaching the Green Deal and the EU’s strategies for reducing emissions while maintaining competitiveness, including carbon taxes, promoting renewables, clean mobility, etc. The participants will thus be equipped with the tools to be able to grasp and address the complex challenges ahead.

Learning methodology

The course will take place on Cisco Webex Training, which allows for a highly interactive online learning. Participants will be able to:

•    See the trainers and their peers,
•    Follow the lectures and presentations,
•    Have access to interactive whiteboards,
•    Take part in different activities in groups or together,
•    Consult training material and resources sent in advance.

Moreover, they will be able to interact with trainers and other participants through a feedback panel, and Q&A and chat tools. All in all, it will create a unique virtual space for learning, networking and interaction.

More specifically, the course will allow:

  • Interactive training: theoretical and practical sessions;
  • Case studies: designed to present and develop essential skills and discuss current issues;
  • Online study visit: to learn directly from EU officials.

Active participation is required and strongly encouraged.

Why participate?

Through this programme, participants will have an opportunity to:

  • Update and improve their knowledge and understanding of the European Green Deal and EU energy policy;
  • Explore the links between energy policy, climate policy, industrial strategy, and funding instruments;
  • Participate in an online study visit to Brussels and discuss the challenges and future of EU energy, climate, and industrial policies with high-level EU officials;
  • Learn in a multicultural environment;
  • Extend their personal and professional networks;
  • Receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
